Sports Physical Therapy
For active adults in Los Angeles who refuse to slow down.
Rehab that treats you like an athlete, not a patient — hands-on care and progressive training built to get you back to the thing you actually love, and keep you there.

Most clinics treat the injury and stop the moment the pain is gone. That's where the real work begins. Getting out of pain is the low bar — the goal is a body that holds up to the demands you put on it: the long run, the heavy pull, the third hard session of the week, without breaking down again.
Every session is a full hour, 1-on-1 with Dr. Alex Chau from start to finish. No aides, no rotating between three people at once, no sheet of generic exercises passed off as a plan. You get hands-on treatment when it's the right tool and programming built around your sport.
Who it's for
Runners chasing a race or fighting a recurring injury. Lifters — powerlifters, Olympic lifters, and recreational strength athletes — who need their body to perform and last. Cyclists, climbers, and weekend athletes who train hard and don't accept “just rest it” as an answer.
If you move on purpose and you're tired of care that treats the symptom and ignores the sport, this is built for you.
How the work is structured
Assess. A full orthopedic exam paired with movement and sport-specific analysis — how you run, how you lift, where load actually travels through your body. We find the driver, not just the sore spot.
Treat. Hands-on care — joint mobilization and soft tissue work — to calm symptoms and restore the movement you need to load well again.
Build. Progressive strength and movement work tied to your sport, with defined milestones so progress is measured, not guessed. You leave with a clear plan and a body ready for the real demands, not just the clinic.
What makes this different
Dr. Alex Chau is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and a board-certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS), with training through an orthopedic residency and experience as a lead clinician in a high-touch performance setting. You get that expertise for the full session, every session.
The practice is cash-based on purpose: no insurance quotas, no six-patients-an-hour churn. Longer sessions, direct messaging access between visits, and a plan designed around your goals instead of a billing code. You can submit a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement.

FREQUENTLY ASKED
Questions, answered.
Do I need a referral to start?
No. California has direct access, so you can start with Dr. Alex without a physician's referral. If imaging or a specialist consult becomes useful along the way, he'll point you in the right direction.
Do you take insurance?
The practice is cash-based. You'll receive a superbill to submit to your insurer for out-of-network reimbursement. The trade-off is longer 1-on-1 sessions, no quotas, and care built around your training instead of a billing code.
I'm not a competitive athlete — is this still for me?
Yes. “Athlete” here means anyone who trains and wants to keep training — runners, lifters, and active professionals at every level. The approach scales to your goals.
Can you help me train around an injury instead of stopping?
Usually, yes. Complete rest is rarely the answer for active people. Most plans keep you moving and training in the ways you safely can while we rebuild the part that's limiting you.
