SERVICES / POST-SURGICAL REHABILITATION

Post-Surgical Rehabilitation

From the OR back to your sport, in Los Angeles — one guided step at a time.

Surgery is the start of the process, not the end of it. What you do in the months after — how you load the tissue, when you progress, how you return to sport — shapes the outcome as much as the operation. This is structured, 1-on-1 rehab built to get you all the way back.

The rehab shapes the outcome

A good surgery can be undercut by rushed or aimless rehab — and a well-run rehab makes the most of the repair you were given. The months after surgery are where strength, range of motion, and confidence are either rebuilt or left on the table.

Every session is a full hour, 1-on-1 with Dr. Alex Chau. Your program follows your surgeon's protocol and precautions, and adapts to how you're actually healing — not a generic timeline.

What we rehab

ACL reconstruction and return-to-sport. Rotator cuff and other shoulder repairs. Hip arthroscopy and labral repairs. Knee scopes and meniscus surgery. If you've had an orthopedic procedure and want to come back strong, this is built for it.

From early recovery to return-to-sport

Early on, the work is restoring range of motion, calming swelling, and re-waking the muscles around the joint — carefully, within your surgeon's precautions. From there it's progressive loading to rebuild real strength and capacity.

The final phase is the one most rehab skips: sport-specific return-to-sport training built around clear strength and movement milestones, so you go back to running, cutting, or lifting with a body that's ready — not just cleared.

What makes this different

Most post-surgical rehab gets rushed through in shared sessions with a rotating cast. Here it's the same board-certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist every visit, full hours, and direct messaging access between sessions when a question comes up.

Cash-based care means the plan is built around your recovery, not a visit cap — and you can submit a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Questions, answered.

When should I start physical therapy after surgery?

It depends on the procedure and your surgeon's protocol — sometimes within days, sometimes after a period of protected healing. Your surgeon's precautions always come first, and the program is built around them.

Do you work with my surgeon's protocol?

Yes. Post-surgical rehab follows the protocol and precautions your surgeon sets, adapted to how you're actually healing. If anything needs clarifying, we work around their guidance.

How long does ACL rehab take?

Return-to-sport after ACL reconstruction is typically a months-long process, and it's driven by meeting strength and movement milestones — not just the calendar. You'll have a clear picture of the phases and what each one requires.

Do I need a referral?

California direct access means you can start without one, though post-surgical care is coordinated with your surgeon. The practice is cash-based, with a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement.
