Dr. Alex Chau
DPT · Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist
I help active adults move from pain to performance with thoughtful, individualized physical therapy rooted in clarity, connection, and meaningful progress.
01 / PHILOSOPHY
Movement is
meaningful for everyone.
I’m Dr. Alex Chau, a physical therapist and Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist, and I believe movement is meaningful for everyone. For some, that means keeping up with their kids. For others, it means returning to running, lifting, training, or having an outlet for their competitive nature.
My goal is to understand what movement means to you, connect your current limitations to your bigger goals, and build a clear path forward.
My approach is rooted in listening closely, assessing thoroughly, and creating a plan that feels both personalized and practical. I work with active adults across the full movement continuum — from pain relief and recovery to movement quality, strength, performance, and long-term health. I’m especially experienced with knee, hip, and shoulder cases, and I enjoy working with people who value their health and find meaning in movement.
My training through orthopedic residency shaped the way I practice, teaching me to think systematically, assess methodically, and use retesting to guide treatment with purpose. As a former lead clinician in a high-touch performance setting, I bring both clinical precision and individualized care to every session.
Based in Los Angeles, serving Mid-City and Beverly Hills.
02 / APPROACH
Evidence. Assessment.
Individualization.
My approach draws from three areas that rarely live in the same clinical model: pain neuroscience, movement analysis, and progressive strength training.
Understanding pain isn’t enough. Moving well isn’t enough. You have to be strong enough to sustain what matters to you — and that means building real capacity, not just managing symptoms.
PAIN SCIENCE
Understanding how and why the nervous system produces pain to give you more agency over your recovery.
MOVEMENT ANALYSIS
Detailed assessment of mechanics, load distribution, and compensatory patterns.
HANDS-ON THERAPY
Manual techniques to restore mobility, reduce tissue restriction, and create the conditions for real work.
PROGRESSIVE TRAINING
Structured, progressive programming — not random exercises — designed around your specific goals.
03 / CLIENTELE
Who I work best with.
Runners
Training for a race, dealing with recurring injuries, or trying to build mileage without breaking down.
Lifters
Competitive powerlifters, Olympic lifters, or recreational strength athletes who need their body to perform and last.
Busy Professionals
People who sit for work, move in their off hours, and need care that understands both sides of that equation.
The Frustrated
Anyone who's been told to "rest and see how it feels" for the fourth time and is done with temporary solutions.
A PERSONAL NOTE
“At the heart of it, I do this work to help people feel hopeful again.”
Whether you’re dealing with a recent injury, a long-standing issue, or simply want to move and perform at a higher level, I want to help you better understand your body and move forward with confidence.
